Butler's Tyler Rainford Joins JWU Men's Basketball Recruiting Class

Charlotte, NC - Head Coach Jim Casciano and the Johnson & Wales men's basketball program announced the signing of local prospect Tyler Rainford on Thursday.  Rainford, a graduate of Butler High School in nearby Matthews, is the eighth player to sign with Casciano's 2017 recruiting class.

A guard, Rainford played at Central Academy at Lake Park in Indian Trail, NC, before graduating from Butler in 2015.  His junior year, he averaged nearly 11 points for his high school team along with four rebounds.

"Tyler is a young man who has had to overcome some obstacles in order to play at the collegiate level," said Casciano.  "He is dedicated, a hard worker, and a person of strong character.  I anticipate that he will be a pleasant surprise within our basketball program."

Rainford previously played AAU with the Carolina Defenders.  He is the son of Beverly and Tony Rainford and plans on majoring in Sports/Entertainment/Event Management.
