Men's Basketball Suffers First Loss, Falls 102-71 at Francis Marion

Florence, S.C. - The Johnson & Wales men's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season on Thursday, falling 102-71 at NCAA D2 program Francis Marion University.

Christian Creswell came off the bench to lead the Wildcats (2-1) in scoring with a career high 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting.  Messiah Baptiste added 11 points while Majerle Poole and James Veal each scored 10 for Johnson & Wales.

Detrek Browning led all scorers for Francis Marion (3-0) with 23 points on the night.

Johnson & Wales was dominated by the hosts at the free throw line.  The Patriots converted 22-of-27 attempts while the Wildcats finished just 2-of-7 from the charity stripe.  The visitors did not attempt a single free throw in the first half.

Francis Marion also controlled the boards, outrebounding Johnson & Wales 54-35 on the evening.

The Wildcats will resume play on Monday when they travel to Buies Creek, S.C., to play NCAA D1 opponent Campbell University.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
