Charlotte, NC - The USCAA #14 Johnson & Wales women's basketball team swept their two game series against Florida College on Saturday, winning 74-66 at the Wildcat Center.
The Wildcats (9-5) were coming off a thrilling 63-56 victory against the Falcons on Friday, and Saturday's contest was every bit as competitive. The teams traded the lead numerous times throughout the game, and Florida College pulled to within one point with just 3:20 remaining in the game on a jumper by Toni Cox.
But just like Friday's game, the Wildcats would go on a late run. Johnson & Wales scored the next nine points to put the game out of reach and claim another big win in what is shaping up to be a historic season for the program.
The Wildcats are just one victory away from trying the program mark for wins in a season and are just two wins from clinching their first winning regular season since the program's inception in 2014.
Cox led Florida College with 19 points and 13 rebounds off the bench while Lexi Risner added 14 points.
The Falcons entered this weekend's series ranked fifth in USCAA Division 1.
Johnson & Wales will resume play on Tuesday, Jan. 31, when the team hosts Bob Jones University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m in the Wildcat Center.
