JWU Volleyball Loses Nail-biter to Johnson C. Smith

Charlotte, NC - The USCAA #7 Johnson & Wales volleyball team lost in five sets on Tuesday at NCAA D2 program Johnson C. Smith, falling by the scores of 25-17, 18-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-12.

Lucy Herrmann led the Lady Wildcats (17-8) with 19 kills and 21 digs on the night.  Toniya Scott added 12 kills while Johmillet Berrios contributed 10 kills and 16 digs.

"We encountered a motivated team tonight and just couldn't outlast them this time," said head coach Callie Phillips.  "We have lived and died by five-set matches, so it is reasonable for that to catch up with us. We will now turn our attention to our Homecoming matches later this week."

Donna Harris posted 32 assists and 10 digs.  Keri Ketchie and Halle Franklin posted 19 digs and 17 digs, respectively.

The Lady Wildcats resume play on Thursday when they host Davidson County Community College.  Play is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Wildcat Center.
