JWU Volleyball Bounces Back, Defeats Davidson County in Four Sets

Charlotte, NC - The USCAA #7 Johnson & Wales volleyball team claimed a four set win at home over Davidson County Community College on Thursday, winning 25-20, 22-25, 25-19, 25-21.

The Lady Wildcats (18-8) had lost two of their last three, but were able to put in a performance against Davidson County that left head coach Callie Phillips impressed with her squad.

"This is the definition of a bounce-back game," said Phillips.  "We executed tonight on a level that we have not yet seen this season.  The team worked hard to correct some earlier miscues we made on Tuesday to really put forth a strong team effort.  Several team members showed tremendous strides of progress from our last match, and I'm very pleased with our work."

Lucy Herrmann led offensively with 15 kills while adding 19 digs on the night.  Tiy Gonzalez chipped in with 11 kills., while Donna Harris finished with 35 assists.

Halle Franklin put in a strong defensive performance with a team-high 28 digs.

The Lady Wildcats will resume play on Friday when they host USCAA foe Mid-Atlantic Christian University as part of Homecoming festivities.  Play begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Wildcat Center.
