Men's Basketball Rolls Into USCAA Semis

Petersburg, VA - Johnson & Wales Charlotte men's basketball earned the largest postseason win in school history with an 89-52 victory over #2 Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday afternoon at the USCAA National Championships.

How It Happened:
  • The game was close throughout the first seven minutes of the half with Wilkes-Barre taking a three point lead 16-13 on a Kaii Gilliam layup.
  • JWU responded with a 14-0 run over the next five minutes, punctuated by Brandon Summers's dunk at the 7:48 mark.
  • The Lions briefly stemmed the tide, but JWU continued their excellent play to close the half.
  • Jaylen Dibble's steal and dunk to beat the halftime buzzer put the Wildcats up 17 and left Wilkes-Barre head coach LeShawn Hammett searching for answers.
  • Jaylen Benson-Hollinhead opened the second half with a dunk of his own, and the Wildcats were off and running. 
  • Wilkes-Barre would get no closer than 13 points and the lead eventually swelled to the final margin of 37.

  • The Wildcats shot 54.1% from the field, 43.8% (7-16) from three, and 84.2% (16-19) from the free throw line.
  • JWU outrebounded Wilkes-Barre 44-23.
  • Anthoney Ray led all scorers with 21 points, had 6 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists.
  • Jaylen Benson-Hollinhead made 7 of 8 field goal attempts for 15 points.
  • Jaylen Dibble scored 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
  • JWU improves to 16-11 overall while Penn State Wilkes-Barre drops to 22-6 overall.
